Spain|The prosecutor opened a preliminary investigation after two former employees of Iglesias had accused him of sexual harassment.
in Spain the prosecutor has stopped the investigation of the singer Julio Iglesiasta82, about the accusations of sexual crimes, say the Spanish The Country and British BBC.
The prosecutor opened a preliminary investigation after two former employees of Iglesias had accused him of sexual harassment.
Former employees, a domestic helper and a physiotherapist, said that Iglesias engaged in “physical, mental and sexual violence and constant harassment”. The women worked at the singer’s residencies in the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas in 2021.
Prosecutor opened a preliminary investigation to determine whether it has jurisdiction over the case and whether there is sufficient evidence in the case. On Friday, the prosecutor stated that Spanish courts do not have jurisdiction to hear the case.
The reason was that the suspected crimes took place outside of Spain, and Iglesias’ former employees are not Spanish citizens or residents.
