Already 700,000 euros in revenue: tickets for the revival of “La Cage aux Folles” with Laurent Lafitte are being snapped up

“We’re hallucinating! We’ve never seen this for sale! It shows that he had a pool of people who were just waiting for that,” we whisper inside the Théâtre du Châtelet. For the first time, the theater in the heart of the capital will resume one of its major productions not on tour, but in another Ile-de-France theater. It will be at the Seine Musicale, in Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine), which will host from October 30 to November 14 the revival of “La Cage aux Folles”, the musical comedy performed by Laurent Lafitte.

Translated and directed by Olivier Py, director of the Châtelet, this Broadway musical signed in the 1980s by Jerry Herman and Harvey Fierstein based on the play by Jean Poiret, truly triumphed during the Holidays. Very spectacular with its monumental sets and these rich and abundant costumes, funny and lively, moving too, the best musical show of the year for the editorial staff of Le Parisien had been performed 44 times. 44 performances which were sold out with 76,000 tickets sold.

4,000 tickets sold on the first day

In Boulogne, we will find Laurent Lafitte as Zaza, solidly supported by Damien Bigourdan, ideal as Georges, for 17 performances in the 3,500-seat hall, or just under 60,000 tickets on offer. And more than a tenth left in just three days! “It’s a first for us, we didn’t really know what to expect and while the Seine Musicale hasn’t communicated, there’s no advertising anywhere, neither on TV nor in the metro, it doesn’t stop,” we rejoice in the Châtelet team. The first day, we sold 4,000 tickets, the next day 2,300, since this morning 700, it’s not stopping.”

In three days, it is therefore the equivalent of two evenings at the Seine Musicale, almost four at the Châtelet. Around 3 p.m. this Saturday, the revenue already stood at 692,000 euros. And the Châtelet teams expected to reach 8,000 seats sold this Saturday evening.
