German Cinematheque now in the E-Werk

After more than a year, you can now visit the Deutsche Kinemathek at a new location: The Museum for Film and Television opened a new exhibition space in the E-Werk. You can now view the “Screentime” installation in the former industrial building, which also once housed a club.

You can still book free tickets for this weekend. There were already many visitors there, said a spokeswoman. “We are very happy about that.” From Monday, entry tickets will cost 10 euros, reduced price 7 euros.

After moving from Potsdamer Platz, the cinema library will use the industrial building as interim accommodation until 2035. Selected objects from the archive will be shown there in experimental form.

The library and the film and television archive are also housed in the E-Werk. However, a large part of the collection is stored in an archive in the Marienfelde district. It is still unclear what will happen after 2035; a new building near Potsdamer Platz was planned.
