Neil Young offers his music for free to the people of Greenland

Canadian-American musician Neil Young80, is again calling on people to boycott Amazon.

In addition, Young announces that he will support Greenland against US coercion efforts by offering the island’s residents free access to all of its production, says Rolling Stone.

Young also announced it on his own website on Friday and on Monday in published newsletters.

Young already said last October that he was going to remove all his music from Amazon. The reason, he said at the time, was the founder and major owner of Amazon By Jeff Bezos sympathy for the president of the United States Donald Trump’s towards the actions of the administration. In a newsletter published on Friday, he announced that he intends to stick to his plan.

“The president’s international policies and his support for ICE are the reason why it is impossible for me to ignore his actions. If you agree with me, I recommend not using Amazon,” Young writes, urging his listeners to get their music from record stores and other digital providers.

He says he will continue his Amazon boycott as long as Bezos owns the company.

“My position is unfortunately harmful to my record company in the short term, but the message I am sending is important and clear,” he continues.

Young’s music for recordings made from live concerts, studio recordings and concert videos can be ordered from his website with annual subscriptions at various prices, from about 25 dollars a year to just under a hundred dollars. However, Greenland residents now have the option of getting a free annual subscription, and have the option to continue the free subscription annually for as long as they live on the island.

Young hopes that his music would bring even a little comfort to the island’s inhabitants in a situation where Greenland is at the center of international politics while Trump is chasing it.

“We hope that other organizations will follow our example.”

Young has made other principled decisions regarding the rights of his music in recent years.
