Warning, sensitive subject. Sensitive subjects. Speaking with Pascal Obispo about Michel Delpech, of whom he was a friend, is like taking a path paved with goosebumps and tears in your eyes. Died ten years ago, a few days before his 70th birthday, this singer and author of “Loir-et-Cher” left behind many masterpieces, from “Chez Laurette” to “When I Was a Singer” via “The Divorced,” “Que Marianne Was Jolie” and “The Hunter,” which the younger generation sings loudly in their evenings.
In addition to a complete set of 21 CDs and 365 tracks, including four previously unreleased songs, and a compilation “80 years, 80 titles”, already available, “The Singer” will be released on February 6 with seventeen songs by Michel Delpech – classics and gems – re-orchestrated and produced by Pascal Obispo around the original voices. The latter offers two virtual duets, “Wight is Wight” and “Le roi de rien”. And it’s superb!
