Canadian actress Catherine O’Hara dies at 71

Canadian actress Catherine O’Hara died this Friday at the age of 71, according to TMZ, and the interpreter’s representative confirmed to People magazine.

Born in Toronto (Canada), O’Hara is known for her roles in films such as ‘Beetlejuice’ (1988 and 2024), ‘The Hard Art of Loving’ (1986) and ‘Home Alone’ (1990), where she played the protagonist’s mother. In other television roles, some special appearances in productions such as ‘Six Feet Under’ or ’30 Rock’ also stand out.

Likewise, she has been a voice actress in animated films such as ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), ‘Chiken Little’ (2005) and ‘The Wild Robot’ (2024).

However, her role as Moira Rose in ‘Schitt’s Creek’ brought her great recognition, she has already received numerous awards, including a Golden Globe, an Emmy and six Canadian Screen Awards.

On a personal level, O’Hara married director and producer Bo Welch in 1992, with whom she had two sons, Matthew and Luke. The couple met while filming ‘Bettlejuice’.
