“A free woman”: in the event of Raphaël Glucksmann’s candidacy for the presidential election, Léa Salamé says she will leave “the antenna”

Léa Salamé’s hearing was eagerly awaited this Monday. Questioned by the deputy of the UDR party, ally of the National Rally, Charles Alloncle, about his companion Raphaël Glucksmann, the presenter of the France 2 television news was very clear on the position she would adopt in the event of the MEP’s candidacy in the next presidential election.

“I am an honest independent journalist and a free woman. I did not wait for the commission to answer this question,” she declared, during this hearing which lasted approximately 2.5 hours. And added: “In 2019, when my partner decided to be a candidate, I decided to withdraw from the air, same thing in 2024. If he is a candidate, I leave the air immediately”.

Between these elections, the journalist says she continued her work “with complete impartiality”. “I receive nearly 400 guests a year. We could never hear that my companion was holding my pen. Do you really think that in 2026 a woman will vote like her husband, think like her husband? Conversely, why am I withdrawing? I am withdrawing because I do not want the French to have the slightest doubt, the slightest suspicion,” she specifies.

“Always” presenter, if she was Bardella’s partner?

Charles Alloncle, then the RN deputy Caroline Parmentier, asked her if the situation would be the same if she were the partner of Jordan Bardella, president of the National Rally: “Do you really think that if you were the partner of Jordan Bardella, you would be today, always, at the head of the eight o’clock news on France 2? “.

This question annoyed Jérémie Patrier-Leitus, president of the commission. “I still think that after centuries and centuries of struggle, we can accept that a free woman delegates neither her political choices nor her thoughts to her husband,” he says. His remark made his colleague, the commission’s rapporteur, complain.

“Thank you, Mr. President, for rephrasing my question. I think she was very clear. I don’t need a lesson,” concludes Charles Alloncle, who has the microphone cut off.

“I hope that if Jordan Bardella’s partner was a journalist, she could continue to do her work on a private or public channel until her partner is a candidate,” replies Léa Salamé, amused by this skirmish between the two men.

“I would have asked Laurent Delahousse the same question if he had been in a relationship with Madame Tondelier. I cannot accept the president’s innuendoes,” punctuates Charles Alloncle, deeming his question “legitimate.”

The journalist was also questioned about several errors made during the 8 p.m. broadcast, notably that of Dominique Bernard, a teacher murdered by a radicalized student, confused with Samuel Paty on October 13, 2025. “Zero errors do not exist. This confusion is regrettable. It affects the victims, the families. It’s a malfunction, a communication error, we take our part in it, I take my part in it. I tweeted very quickly to apologize,” she recalls. Hugo Plagnard, editor-in-chief of 8 p.m., adds: “There will be a before and an after. There was an audit to see how it happened. On the communication, that day there was a failure. We have done everything to ensure that this error does not happen again.”
