Rafael Núñez Huesca, Sapientia Cordis award for ‘The nation without self-esteem’

The essay prize Wisdom of the Heartconvened by CEU Ediciones and endowed with 15.000 euroshas fallen on Rafael Núñez Huesca by The nation without self-esteem, a text that analyzes the deep causes of Spanish identity discomfort and reflects on the relationship between nation, citizenship and collective self-esteem.

The jury has also awarded two second prizes to ‘Coordinates of Paradise. Iran and the eternal search for origins’by Javier Redondo Jordán, and ‘Adventing freedom’, by Ricardo Calleja Rovira.

The ruling was issued by a jury made up of Luis Alberto de Cuenca, María Calvo, Jorge Freire, Gabriel Albiac and María San Gil, who highlighted the intellectual solidity of the award-winning work, the clarity of its approach and the lucidity of its diagnosis of the Spanish present.

Rafael Núñez Huesca (Alicante, 1980) is deputy spokesperson for the Popular Party in the Madrid Assembly. Previously, for four years, he was a speechwriter in the Community of Madrid.

With a degree in Advertising and Journalism, and a master’s degree in Cultural Industries, he teaches at the Francisco de Vitoria University, where he teaches Political Analysis. He collaborates with different media outlets and has been awarded the Ricardo Ortega Journalism Prize.
