Spotify starts selling printed books

Streaming service Spotify starts selling physical books.

Spotify announced on Thursdaythat it will start selling printed books in its app in cooperation with online bookstore Bookshop.org. Sales of books in the application will start later in the spring in the United States and Great Britain.

Bookshop.org is responsible for the pricing, storage and delivery of the books, but Spotify receives payment for each purchase made in its application, Reuters news agency reports.

Spotify started offering its subscribers audiobooks in 2022. In Finland, the company expanded its service to audiobooks last November.

Several Finnish authors were shocked of the news, because they did not know that their works would appear for listening on Spotify. Writers have also been concerned about how the compensations received from Spotify relate to the compensations received from other reading time services.
