Suspected of tax fraud in France, singer Angèle denies having concealed her income

The queen of pop in turmoil. The singer Angèle denied this Monday having concealed income from the French tax authorities, affirming that she paid her taxes and those of her company in Belgium, her country of origin.

The singer made this clarification in a press release from her public relations agency after information on the opening of an investigation by the tax authorities, which notably led to a home visit of her apartment in Paris.

“At no time can it be maintained” that Angèle Van Laeken and her company Saïmiri SRL “have concealed income or evaded tax,” the press release indicates. They “are established in Belgium” and “comply with their legal obligations by declaring all of their worldwide income” in this country. “Each year, the company pays significant contributions to the Belgian State,” according to the text.

Saïmiri “was the subject of investigative measures by the French tax administration, which notably led to a home visit to his private pied-à-terre in Paris”, procedures which “concern a broader targeting of Belgian artists recognized on the French market”, indicates the press release.

A visit from the tax authorities

The latter was published after information from the site L’Informé indicating that tax agents had visited his apartment on March 19, 2025 and that Angèle had tried in vain to have the seizures made canceled by the courts.

When questioned, the General Directorate of Public Finances did not wish to react “due to tax secrecy”.

Born in the Brussels metropolitan area, Angèle Van Laeken, 30, enjoyed enormous success with her album “Brol” in 2018 and her track “Balance ton quoi”, followed by the album “Nonante-Cinq” in 2021. She announced the release of a track in collaboration with the electronic music group Justice on February 27.
