Hélène Rollès sings alongside John Legend in front of 800 million viewers for the Chinese New Year

An unlikely duo. As Le Parisien announced at the end of last week, French actress and singer Hélène Rollès performed this Monday in Beijing alongside American crooner John Legend, on the occasion of the Chinese New Year.

The French artist, revealed in the 1990s by the series “Hélène and the boys”, was the guest of the New Year special on the Chinese channel CCTV.

In princess costume and dress, Hélène Rollès and John Legend performed “The Beauty and the Beast”, a title originally sung by Céline Dion, accompanied by an orchestra. The broadcast of this performance was watched by more than 800 million viewers.

Two tours in China

Like Joyce Jonathan, Hélène Rollès has enjoyed real success in China for several years thanks to her emblematic title “My name is Hélène”, from the cult series “Hélène et les enfants”. In the country, the song is considered a classic of French song.

Proof of this success, Hélène Rollès had already performed in Beijing for the Chinese New Year in 2014, then completed two tours of China in 2015 and 2016. In 2019, she was also invited to the Élysée for a dinner in the presence of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

In France, Hélène Rollès recently starred in the series “The Mysteries of Love”, broadcast on TMC until it ended at the end of December.
