Puotila’s summer theater situation, a new Puotila manor theater will be established

The new theater aims to reach as many people as possible with its shows. The program also includes children’s theater.

Theater activity will still continue in Eastern Helsinki at the Puotila manor, when Teatteriyhdistys Virne ry establishes a new theater.

Puotila’s summer theater, which has been in operation since 2014 said on Tuesday to cease operations as unprofitable.

The name of the new theater will be the Puotila manor theater, and its director will be a well-known actor, screenwriter and circus performer Matias Husgafvel.

Puotila’s summer theater wrote in its closing announcement that it was looking for and hoped for a successor.

Husgafvel says that he would have liked to continue the operation of the Puotila summer theater as it is, but due to the bankruptcy decision, that was not possible. Discussions with the representatives of Puotila Manor also influenced the decision to establish a new theater rather than continue the operation of the old one.

I shop the summer theater was especially known for its shows aimed at children. According to Husgafvel, they will also be performed in the new theater.

“In addition to the children’s theater, we will also see a musical theater aimed at adults, which has not been seen before in Puotila.”

Despite the renovations, Husgafvel promises that the new theater will also take into account the Puotila summer theater’s more than ten years of operation and established audience.

For the director of the new theater, yesterday’s formulation of the termination announcement by the former operator came as a surprise.

“It was a bit of a shame that it didn’t mention anything about the new extension,” says Husgafvel.

How does the new theater take on the challenges faced by the previous operator?

“I’m optimistic. We’ve chosen a program that will hopefully attract visitors of all ages and backgrounds. We’re trying to make a theater that reaches everyone. We’re planning, for example, pay-what-you-want shows.”
