Maxi Tusquets publishes Annie Ernaux in pocket edition: ‘The Place’, ‘Pura Pasión’, ‘The Event’ and ‘The Shame’

The Maxi Tusquets publishing house publishes the four “most representative” works of the 2022 Nobel Prize in Literature, Annie Ernaux: ‘The Place’, ‘Pura Pasión’, ‘The Event’ and ‘The Shame’.

Ernaux was the seventeenth woman to receive the Nobel Prize since its creation in 1901. The jury highlighted “the courage and clinical acuity with which her writing reveals the roots, the estrangements and the collective brakes of memory.”

Precisely, Tusquets Editores was the first publisher to publish the French style in Spanish and has maintained a continued “commitment” to his work since 1993.

In these works that are now reissued in pocket format, Ernaux goes from exploring the female condition, desire or shame, to reflecting on memory, the body and social class.

“The French author has turned her own life into a literary work of universal scope,” explains Tusquets. The latest reissues, with covers by Laura Wächter, were recognized with the World Illustration Awards 2020.

The author has a career backed by some of the most prestigious literary awards in Europe. The jury of the Formentor Prize (2019) highlighted that Ernaux “shamelessly reveals the feminine condition, shares with the reader the intimacy of shame and reflects with a stripped-down style the disordered fragmentation of contemporary experience.”
