Sanremo’s first gaffe on the 1946 referendum: the Republic becomes "Repuplicate"

Who did you vote for in the institutional referendum of 1946? “We were safe in my house. All leftists…”. But how did you vote, for the Republic or for the monarchy? Conti insists. “But no, for the Republic. We all did it in the family. Finally women were voting.”

Word of Gianna Pratesi, 105 years old on March 16th, from Chiavari, “guest of honor”, explains the artistic director of this edition of the Festival.
