Beastie Boys was a sovereign band in combining rap and rock already in the early stages of hip-hop culture. For many, it has not been successful even later.
But a lot of water has flowed in the Hudson all the way to Vantaanjoki. In the happy mix of recycling in the 2020s, combining rap and rock already feels like a completely natural aesthetic choice that doesn’t need to be justified to anyone.
