The first guests at the 40th edition of the Goya Awards begin to walk the red carpet

The first guests to the 40th edition of the Goya Awards gala, which will be held this Saturday, February 28 at the Barcelona International Convention Center (CCIB), have begun to walk the red carpet around 6:00 p.m.

Some of them wore badges with the motto ‘Free Palestine’, like members of the team of the animated short film ‘Carmela’.

This year’s ceremony, which will begin at 10:00 p.m., will be presented by the actor Luis Tosar and the singer Rigoberta Bandini in an event that will mobilize a thousand professionals.

More than 60 professionals will deliver ‘big heads’, such as Karla Sofía Gascón, who last year did not attend the gala after criticism for past racist tweets, despite the fact that the film she starred in, ‘Emilia Pérez’, was nominated for Best European Film. FC Barcelona footballer Alexia Putellas, two-time winner of the Ballon d’Or, will also present the award.

The Kings will not attend the ceremony, as is usual. Yes, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will attend, as in previous years, accompanied by the Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, and the Second Vice President of the Government and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz. The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, will not be there. The president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, and the mayor of Barcelona, ​​Jaume Collboni, among other authorities, will also attend the gala.
