The National Dance Company premieres ‘ROM’ tomorrow at the Teatros del Canal with works by Forsythe and Inger

The National Dance Company (CND), under the artistic direction of Muriel Romero, returns this Thursday, March 12 to the Red Room of the Teatros del Canal with the premiere of ‘ROM’ (Range of Motion)a program that incorporates two new works signed by two fundamental figures of contemporary dance into the group’s repertoire: the American William Forsythe and the Swede Johan Inger.

The program will open with ‘The Second Detail’one of Forsythe’s most recognized creations, premiered in 1991 and since then present in numerous international repertoires. Over the electronic music of Thom Willems, the piece deploys a highly intense technical and physical language that celebrates movement in its purest state.

After a pause, the CND will interpret ‘Become’, choreography by Johan Inger premiered in 2024 by Take Off Dance at the Itálica Festival. In this work, the stage becomes a space of transformation that celebrates the ability to reinvent oneself, with union and effort as engines of artistic creation.

For the preparation of ‘ROM’, Muriel Romero has had the collaboration of Stefanie Arndt and Amy Raymond, stagers of Forsythe’s piece, as well as Johan Inger and his choreographic assistant, Carolina Armenta.

The title of the program, Range of Motionalludes to the memory of the different ranges of movement in the body, a concept that defines the essence of the CND as a meeting space between diverse choreographic languages ​​that converge in contemporary Europe.
