Even Chuck Norris himself, albeit after initial hesitation, like a true Aikido master, accepted the avalanche of ridicule that was often directed against the ideal of masculinity that he stood for.

He avoided scandals out of fear

He demonstrated self-irony and thus became an important voice in the canon of the swan song to a rusty image of men. And this despite the fact that Norris was known to be anything but progressive, which was evident not least in his support for Trump, his unconditional commitment to gun rights and against marriage for all.

Yet Chuck Norris never found himself in the middle of a scandal – supposedly because scandals simply avoided him out of fear. And so he, who no contradiction could ever have frightened, could stand faster than anyone could run.
