Kirsten Dunst joins Sydney Sweeney in The Housekeeper sequel

Barely confirmed in the casting of the video game sequel, Minecraft 2scheduled for release in July 2027, Kirsten Dunst continues with a new project. American‑German actress, known for her roles in Spider‑Man, Melancholia (2011) or more recently The Power of the Dog (2021)joins the cast of The Housemaid’s Secret (The Maid’s Secret), adaptation of the bestselling novel by Freida McFadden.

This feature film follows the triumph of the first part, The Maidproduced by Lionsgate and released in December 2025. A true phenomenon, despite mixed reviews, the film grossed more than $400 million at the worldwide box office.

The announcement of this sequel was made on Netflix’s Instagram account, accompanied by an intriguing sentence: « I would prefer if you refer to me as Mrs. Garrick » (“I would prefer you to call me Mrs. Garrick”). The storyline will once again follow Millie Calloway, played by Sydney Sweeney, now employed as a servant for a wealthy couple, the Garricks, in a luxurious New York apartment. She discovers that beyond refined appearances lie darker truths. Douglas, the husband, seems angry and mysterious, while Wendy, his sick and reclusive wife upstairs, seems a prisoner on the first floor.

In this new adaptation, Kirsten Dunst inherits the role of wife Wendy, succeeding Amanda Seyfried. Michele Morrone will reprise his role as Enzo, the gardener. The identity of the actor playing Douglas Garrick has not yet been revealed.
