To celebrate its 60 years of activity, the Christian Stein Gallery opens its former industrial spaces on the outskirts of Milan (Via Vincenzo Monti 46, Pero/Milan) to the public. From 10 April to 6 June 2026, a wide selection of works and large installations that have marked the history of the gallery from 1966 to today will be visible. Gathered in these spaces are the large installations by historical artists and subsequent generations who have marked the identity of the gallery from 1966 to today: Alighiero Boetti, Pier Paolo Calzolari, Luciano Fabro, Jannis Kounellis, Richard Long, Fausto Melotti, Mario Merz, Marisa Merz, Giulio Paolini, Giuseppe Penone, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Giuseppe Uncini, Gilberto Zorio, Mimmo Paladino, Remo Salvadori, Marco Bagnoli, Domenico Bianchi, Peter Wüthrich, Paolo Canevari, Stefano Arienti and Elisabetta Di Maggio.
The large Christian Stein deposits are configured as an environment in which the works are not simply preserved, but continually related according to a dynamic archive logic. An exhibition vocation that has already emerged in recent years: between 2014 and 2019, the Pero venue had in fact hosted a series of anthological exhibitions of museum value dedicated to the gallery’s artists. With this reopening, therefore, the Christian Stein Deposito presents itself not only as a simple place of conservation, but as a space in which the works are deposited, stratified and transformed together with the relationships and stories that pass through them. An anthology in progress, in which time accumulates and remains active.
