It has always been a bit of a dream for Merete Mærkedahl to participate in the Circus Revue. But in the middle of the stage light, she suddenly felt the panic rise and the dizziness hit. So much so that she could not see herself out of the situation.
She says this in a long interview with TV 2.
When the 40-year-old actress, who is known, among other things, for her participation as Otilia in ‘Badehotellet’ and for her victory in ‘Vild med Dans’, lost her mother, she suffered great grief.
The loss of the mother happened just before what was to become one of the busiest career periods in the 40-year-old actress’ life.
When she could not get out of a contract for a project in early 2022, it became too much.
– It pushed me over the edge, she tells TV 2.
Merete Mærkedahl made her debut in 2021 on stage in Cirkusrevyen, where she played with well-known names such as Lisbet Dahl, Niels Olsen and Ulf Pilgaard.
Fortunately, she got help when the pressure became too great.
The circus revue called in extra actors, and ‘Badehotellet’ moved a week’s of recordings. That gave Merete Mærkedahl a month’s break.
– It is always oneself who feels that it is a defeat or a mistake. And it’s completely insane. Because we are only human. And life caught up with me, she tells TV 2.
The break gave the actress the surplus to film the ninth season of ‘Badehotellet’ without any problems, and by May she is ready for the new season of Cirkusrevyen.
– These are simply the world’s best workplaces. They could see that it would not work. And they wanted to take care of me, she tells TV 2.
The new season of ‘Badehotellet’ premieres on February 7 on TV 2, and can already be streamed on TV 2 PLAY.
