The Spanish Academy of Music will celebrate its first edition of awards on June 10 in Madrid

The recently formed Academy of Music of Spain will celebrate the first edition of its Awards on June 10 at the IFEMA Madrid Municipal Palace, an event in which there are more than 200 professionals from the music industry nominated and who have been voted on among the 800 members of this institution.

Precisely, the Murcian rock band Arde Bogotá leads the number of nominations with nine nominations, including Best Artist, Best Album of the Year (‘Cowboys de la A3’), Best Song and Best Composer of the Year, as well as Best tour and New artist.

These awards consist of 48 categories covering the main aspects of the musical profession and activity of 2023. While 43 categories are chosen by vote, another five special awards will be awarded at the proposal of the governing bodies of the Academy.

Arde Bogotá is followed, with six nominations, by the singer Silvia Pérez Cruz, who last year published ‘Toda la vida, un día’. It aspires to the categories of Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Singer-songwriter Album, Best Album Design, Best Music Video and Best Song in Catalan.

Next up are Aitana (with her album ‘Alpha’) with five nominations: Artist of the Year, Best Pop Album, Best Urban Song, Best Electronic Music Album and Best Electronic Music Song; and the singer Quevedo (‘Where I want to be’): Artist of the year, Song of the year, Best urban music album, Best urban song and Best music video.

Also with five candidates are María José Llergo and La Plazuela. In the nomination for Artist of the Year, the aforementioned Aitana, Arde Bogotá, Quevedo and Silvia Pérez Cruz are joined by María José Llergo and Guitarricadelafuente.

In the Album of the Year category, in addition to the albums by Arde Bogotá and ‘Toda la vida, un día’, there are also those by Robe Iniesta (‘Se nos transporte el aire’), Alizzz (‘Boicot’), María José Llergo (‘Ultrabelleza’) and Rodrigo Cuevas (‘Manual de romería’).

While the Song of the Year award goes to ‘Madrid City’ (Ana Mena), ‘Los Perros’ (Arde Bogotá), ‘Volverá?’ (Coque Malla), ‘Me la pegué’ (Delaporte), ‘The fool’ (Lola Índigo y Quevedo) and ‘The root’ (Valeria Castro).

Singers like C Tangana or the aforementioned Robe Iniesta also aspire to an award. In the case of the Madrid native, the main representative of Spanish trap, he competes in the category of Best Rap/Hip Hop Song, Best Music Video and Best Song in Galician/Bable. For his part, the former leader of Extremoduro is nominated for Best Album of the Year, Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song (‘El poder del arte’).

In flamenco, the artist Israel Fernández has three nominations, including Best Flamenco Album for Pura Sangre. In this category he competes with Alejandro Hurtado (‘Tamiz’), Enrique el Extremeño (’50 años de cante’), José Quevedo “Bolita” (‘Fértil’), Sebastián Cruz (‘Zarabanda’) and Estrella Morente and Rafael Riqueni ( ‘Star and Raphael’).

BOOMBASTIC, BOTANICAL NIGHTS OR SONORAMA

In the category of Best Classical Music Album, they aspire to the ‘Sixena de la Capella’ award by Ministrers Carlos Magraner; ‘Dialogues for flute and clarinet’, by Elvira Querol and Séverine Rospocher; ‘Bach’, by Claudio Constantini; ‘Origins Works for solo violin of the Málaga y Niebla Philharmonic Orchestra’, by Yhael May.

In jazz, the nominees for Best Album of the genre are ‘The Chick Corea Symphony Tribute’, by ADDA Sinfónica (Josep Vicent, Emilio Solla), ‘Rodizio musical en Recoletos’, by Albert Sanz and Javier Colina; ‘El Siempre Mar’, by Emilio Solla and Antonio Lizana; ‘The Boss’, by Pepe Sánchez; and ‘Eléctrica’, by Trinidad Jiménez.

Finally, among other nominations and categories, Boombastic, Cooltural Fest, Inverfest, Noches del Botánico and Sonorama Ribera 2023 compete for the Best Event of the Year Award.
