Information of more than 500 million people may have been stolen from Ticketmaster – Culture

The hacker group claims to have stolen customers’ names, addresses, phone numbers and partial credit card information.

Ticket giant There has been a massive data breach at Ticketmaster. A group of hackers said they had stolen the information of 560 million customers from a US company.

The Australian government and the US Federal Police said they were investigating the claims by hacker group Shinyhunters.

Shinyhunters said on a so-called dark web forum that they had stolen the names, addresses, phone numbers and partial credit card information of Ticketmaster customers. The group traded the information for $500,000.

The Australian government said the country’s cyber security agency is working with Ticketmaster to investigate what happened. The US Embassy in Australia said the federal police, the FBI, had offered assistance. The authorities have not yet confirmed the authenticity of the data breach.

Shinyhunters gained notoriety in 2020-2021 when it stole and distributed customer data from more than 60 companies. In January of this year, a French hacker who was part of the group was sentenced to three years in prison in the United States and was ordered to pay more than five million dollars in damages for the damages caused by the data breaches.

Ticketmaster, owned by event giant Live Nation Entertainment, has long been criticized in the US for its dominant market position. Last week, the US Department of Justice and dozens of states sued Live Nation Entertainment, aiming to force the company to sell Ticketmaster.
