Two Librobús units installed in Ecatepec

Ecatepec, Méx., The director of the Economic Culture Fund, Paco Ignacio Taibo II, inaugurated the Librobús program in Ecatepec and announced that this year eight more will be put into operation in various parts of the country.

Last Monday, Librobús was installed with two mobile units at the Roberto Ruiz Llanos secondary school and at the Anexa a Ecatepec primary school, each with 8 thousand copies and 190 titles at low cost.

These units have already visited several municipalities in the state of Mexico, such as Chalco and Tlalnepantla, as well as mayors in the Valley of Mexico, and will continue their trips to various places in Ecatepec, Tláhuac and Cuajimalpa.

During the inauguration, Paco Ignacio Taibo II stated that there are currently 11 mobile units in operation and the balance of the bus books and the promotion of reading has been good.

“They were given maximum use, the problem is that they are old and there is deterioration both electrically and in the furniture; So, we are in the process of repairing them. Now the big blow is going to be the incorporation of eight more units that I estimate to start preparing for this end of the year.

We lost two because they couldn’t do any more, they became permanent bookstores. We close the box and plant it in the ground. Thus, we have 11 working, but three or four under repair. Next year we release the cavalry.

He assured that each bus book carries an average of 7 thousand copies and they are renewed daily for the enjoyment of children and adolescents, in addition to having the Through the Mirror collection, dedicated to teachers.

Our balance is very positive, but the best thing is that we are not done now. We are working to have continuity. The Fund will continue to drive book policy over the next six years; Therefore, we are already working on plans for two or three years, and here in Ecatepec the Brigade is working with the elected candidate (Azucena Cisneros Coss) to bring back a book fair with all the power. In a month we are going to plan the creation of reading clubs in the cultural houses, and that means seeing where I get books to donate to the libraries. This is going onhe concluded.

At that event, Paco Ignacio Taibo II was accompanied by José Isabel Maya Fernández, School Zone supervisor; Jesús Vargas Miranda, deputy director of Continuing Training; Serafín Aguilera Valencia, Undersecretary of Basic Education; Jesús Arturo Valera Ramos, school director; Leticia Serrano, regional deputy director of Basic Education Ecatepec, and Azucena Cisneros, elected municipal president of Ecatepec.
