Legislative: Squeezie calls on young people to block the far right in an open letter

Squeezie joins the list of influencers speaking out to counter the far right. After Mister V or Léna Situations, Lucas Hauchard, his real name, published an open letter on Instagram this Friday encouraging young people who follow him to become aware of the danger that the National Rally would represent.

If he begins by writing that he never wanted to discuss political subjects with his community, he nevertheless affirms: “I think that firmly opposing an extreme ideology which advocates hatred and discrimination goes beyond ‘any political position’.

In eight “slides”, Squeezie recalls the history of the RN, its dangers for France, and especially their actions by detailing the projects against which they voted in the National Assembly. It does not make a moralizing speech but on the contrary recognizes the role of social networks, in particular TikTok, and the “ultra-controlled communication” of the RN. He also says he understands that “with this smokescreen, lots of people believe in their changes”. Squeezie insists on the fact that it is necessary to know how to question oneself; “There is no shame in changing your mind,” he writes.

A few minutes later, Jordan Bardella responded to the Youtuber, first explaining that “we must respect everyone’s choice and Squeezie has every right to position himself”. The boss of the RN then asks: “Squeezie doesn’t want to increase purchasing power? He doesn’t want to restore security? He doesn’t want to protect our borders? “.

The world of culture is mobilizing

The YouTuber concludes by clearly stating his positioning. “I am mobilizing today against the extreme right and their ideas,” he assures, while calling on his community to vote during the legislative elections on June 30 and July 7, with in mind “that voting for a party which advocates hatred, discrimination and fear of others has never been a solution, and never will be.

Beyond content creators, calls from the cultural world to mobilize against the RN have multiplied this week. In a column relayed by Le Monde, 350 personalities called for a “judgment” this week. Among the signatories: the authors Pierre Lemaitre and Annie Ernaux, Nobel Prize winners for literature, the actresses Anna Mouglalis and Romane Bohringer and the designer Pénélope Bagieu.

Fifteen performing arts unions called for demonstrations on Thursday and Saturday in a joint declaration.
