American Chelsea Wolfe had to cancel their appearance at the Sideways festival that started today, Thursday. The artist had to perform in the last gig slot of the evening.

One of the organizers of Sideways Johannes Kinnunen says that the information about the cancellation came on Thursday afternoon, shortly before the start of the festival.

The artist had already arrived in Helsinki, but on the spot it turned out that he had lost his voice and had to stop singing on doctor’s orders.

“As soon as we found out, we put all our nets out. Fortunately, we were able to get a replacement quickly,” says Kinnunen.

Even earlier Wolfe, who performed on Sideways, combines folk and blues sounds with gothic and doom metal influences in his music.

A Finnish artist combining electropop and house was found as a replacement artist with a few hours’ notice Malla. He performs as the closing artist of the Black Box stage at 11:00 p.m.

According to Kinnusen, with the cancellation, the organizers have received individual contacts from customers.

“Cancellations are always unfortunate. The artist was already in Finland and is really upset and sorry that he won’t be able to perform.”
