RMC: Matthieu Belliard back to replace Nicolas Poincaré at the start of the school year

Matthieu Belliard back in radio where it all started for him. According to our information, the 40-year-old journalist will join RMC at the start of the next school year. He will take over the two daily posts that Nicolas Poincaré did in Apolline de Malherbe’s morning show. The latter is, for his part, leaving for David Pujadas’ production company.

From September, Matthieu Belliard will offer posts before 7 a.m. and then before 8 a.m. in which he will decipher current events in an educational manner. He will also be Apolline de Malherbe’s joker during her holidays. A transfer which forced him to leave the France Info television channel where he was responsible for the 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. slot every Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout this season.

Matthieu Belliard started at RMC, officiating for 10 years alongside Jean-Jacques Bourdin, before taking off for Europe 1 in 2018. First at the helm of the evening news segment, he then took over the reins of the morning after the departure of Nikos Aliagas.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the journalist broadcast from his garage where he had set up a temporary studio. In the summer of 2021, he slammed the door when the station began to move closer to CNews. He then found refuge at France Télévisions, notably in “C à vous”, then in “C l’hebdo” on France 5.

Matthieu Belliard will not be the only novelty for the return of “Apolline Matin”. The morning show, also broadcast live on RMC Story, will recruit historian Arthur Chevallier. This Napoleon specialist will offer an editorial every day during which he will deliver a “clear opinion” on current events to which he will give historical relief.

With 470,000 listeners at the last count, “Apolline matin” displays stable audiences on RMC, which has never regained the level of Jean-Jacques Bourdin, whose departure in 2022 had created quite a mess in the small world of media. On the TV side, the journalist’s scores are in good shape with 135,000 faithful gathered in front of the live co-broadcast on RMC Story (4.9% PDA), i.e. fifth place among French channels, behind France 2, BFMTV, CNews and TF1.
