'Inside Out 2' sweeps its first day in theaters in Spain with 2.7 million euros, a record for an animated film

‘Upside Down 2’, the new Pixar film, has achieved gross 2.7 million euros in Spanish cinemas on its first day of release,this Wednesday, June 19, according to provisional Comscore data provided by Disney in a statement in which it highlights that it is a historical record for an animated film.

Furthermore, the distributor points out that the film accumulates a total of 3.4 million euros when including last Sunday’s previews. The second part of ‘Del Revés’ (Inside Out) premiered this past Wednesday on 1,151 screens in 376 cinemas in Spain and was seen by 484,000 viewers. The average collection exceeds 8,000 euros per cinema.

As Comscore points out in X (formerly Twitter), More than 560,000 spectators went to the cinema this Wednesday, making it the busiest day of the year. The new Pixar film obtained 86 percent of the market share in Spain, according to Disney.

So far this year, the best premiere has been Dune: Part 2 which achieved a collection of 3.2 million euros in its first weekend, according to data provided by FECE to Europa Press.

The film is the sequel to the successful film that won the Oscar for best animated film in 2015. In its international premiere, in most markets it was on June 14, it also swept the world by achieving 300 million dollars (more than 280 million of euros) in its first weekend. Globally, it has already accumulated a collection of 379 million dollars, Disney points out.

With the entry into adolescence of its main character, Riley, the emotions that starred in the first installment and populate her mind are joined by new ones, among which Anxiety stands out.

Almost ten years have passed since ‘Inside Out’ hit theaters and since then Pixar has released several original films such as ‘Soul’, ‘Red’ and ‘Elemental’ but also sequels to such emblematic studio titles as ‘Cars’, ‘The Incredibles’ or ‘Toy Story’.

‘Del Reverso 2’ features the voices of Gemma Cuervo, Mar Bordallo, Beatriz Berciano, Salvador Aldeguer, Fernando Cabrera, Ana Esther Alborg, Michelle Jenner, Rigoberta Bandini, Chanel and Brays Efe.
