Lori Meyers claims 'the new normal' in Las Noches del Botánico

Lori Meyers have returned to Madrid within the Las Noches del Botánico cycle with a show full of the band’s classic songs and some new features, within a repertoire that has ‘Eborracharme’ and ‘A-ha han Volver’ as the spearhead.

At 10:15 p.m. the band headed by Noni made an appearance, in a venue where tickets had been sold out for weeks – 4,000 seats sold – and with an expectant audience looking for a space in the standing area.

Previously, the revelation band of the year in indie, Alcalá Norte, had made an appearance with a show that heated up the atmosphere, thanks to post-punk and new wave songs like ‘La vidaaño’ or ‘La calle elfo’.

The concert opened with ‘Seres de luz’, the song that advocates the ‘new normal’ as a way of life. And Noni has explained that her previous time at Las Noches was marked by COVID, in 2021.

“I’m really telling you, it’s very special to be here. Last time everyone was wearing masks and full of chairs. Now coming back here makes us feel at home,” commented the Granada singer.

After ‘Luces de neón’ marked by Noni’s electric dances on stage, the turn has come to reclaim first songs like ‘Dilema’ or ‘Tokio no longer loves us’. Precisely, it was a day like today 20 years ago when the album ‘Study Trip’ was released.

For an hour, great classics such as ‘Luciérnagas’ – mobiles with lights held high -, ‘The sun always shines’ or the end of this first block with ‘Eborracharme’ have been played, all of them accompanied by a more refined and spectacular audiovisual show than never.

There has also been time for surprise collaborations, like that of Annie B. Sweet on ‘Primaveras’ – this time, the usual Kora has not been accompanying the band on another recent song.

And after the break and the request for encores from the audience, the time has come for the jumps. Not before having made a small claim to his land with ‘Rumba’, with the Spanish guitar and voice to highlight “the roots.”

‘A-ha, they’re back’, ‘Make you fly’ and ‘Eborracharme’ have put the finishing touch to a night with a full moon and an audience that welcomed Noni in the last song until he took him back to the stage where the show has returned. new normal, once again.
