The concept store ‘Urbs’ opens tomorrow in Rome, in the historic Testaccio district, with The Smallest Museum inside – the smallest museum in Rome. The design space – which will be inaugurated tomorrow at 6:30 pm – is designed by Andrea D’Antrassi, an architect born in 1982 who trained at the Fuksas studio and by a group of Roman creatives, who began to think about the project starting from the desire to give a specific image of the city through refined and fun products. Thanks to the work of a young team, the brand has managed to give life to eclectic creations, capable of mixing different styles and languages but distinguished by uniqueness in the details and design.

‘Urbs’ is not only the meeting of elegance and design, but a personal and creative story born from the desire to rediscover a city full of surprises and charm and with an immense cultural heritage. The narration of ‘Urbs’ is composed, in fact, of glimpses, details, impressions, and a contemporary reinterpretation of the imaginary of Rome. “The Urbs project – says D’Antrassi – is something I have thought about for a long time. When I returned to Rome, after having lived abroad for several years, I thought that this city can inspire me and overwhelm me at the same time. For this reason I tried to give shape to my gaze on Rome by giving life to something original but also strongly personal. Every color, every detail, every gesture is a story, a union between different realities and stories”.

The union between the idea of Urbs lifeware and the desire to revive the urban and contemporary style through a dreamlike and innovative vision of the eternal city has led the brand to create refined and exclusive products, characterized by bright colors and whimsical graphics. The technological and playful aspect is not neglected, which for example in the tote bags takes the form of a QR code. This, through your mobile phone, allows you to access a level of augmented reality that makes the graphics three-dimensional and animated.

The Concept Store was conceived to represent the two souls of Urbs: the commercial one and the cultural one. “On one side – continues D’Antrassi – we have the display of all Urbs products – where the walls and floor have been recovered and preserved. On one of these historic walls we have prepared a modular steel system that, in addition to creating a contrast between ancient and modern, allows the wall to be customized according to sales needs. Urbs is also this: reinterpreting the antiquities of Rome in a modern and pop key. On the other side ‘The Smallest Museum’ – the smallest museum in Rome – where approximately 1,600 historic postcards depicting the main and most touristic attractions of the capital are exhibited. The Smallest Museum aims to become a cultural space open to the Roman community where it can propose cultural events, exhibitions, displays and more”.
