Tonight, Maná reviewed its greatest hits in the first of two concerts that the Mexican band has scheduled in Madrid as part of its México Lindo y Querido Tour. A concert in which the Wizink Center was sold out and the audience was completely taken over from the first notes of ‘Manda una señal’, the song with which the Mexican band started off their two and a half hour performance.

With tonight’s performance, Maná is entering the final stretch of its tour in Spain after six years of absence from the national stages. After Madrid, where it will return this Thursday, July 4, it will reach Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Chiclana de la Frontera (Cádiz) where it will bid farewell to the Spanish public.

With the Wizink Center packed, the band from Jalisco offered their fans a night to remember with a review of their greatest hits with which they have conquered the hearts of generations and which tonight were represented among their unconditional fans of all ages present in the capital’s pavilion.

And after ‘Manda una señal’ came ‘Corazón Espinado’, ‘Hechicera’ and ‘Labios compartidas’, historic songs that Fher, Alex, Sergio and Juan have performed for an audience that is increasingly devoted to their music and that Maná had ready to satisfy that thirst for the fusion of Latin rhythms, pop and rock that their songs have become.

Soon the references to Madrid began. “As you can see, the house is full. Madrid, Madrid Spain, we missed you so much,” exclaimed Fher Olvega, bringing the packed hall to its feet.

With the interpretation of ‘Dónde juegan los niños’ they have improvised a jungle with a large elephant on stage at which point Fher Olvera, the group’s singer, has not missed the opportunity to put forward his ecological message and express in words his concern for caring for the planet, something that the band has had in its DNA since its beginnings as ‘Sombero verde’.

At the same time, on giant screens, along with an impressive light and sound show, attendees saw recreations of different places on the planet where the legendary band’s songs were born.

`LIVING WITHOUT AIR’ AND ‘I CRIED YOU A RIVER’

And then some of their other great hits have followed: ‘Vivir sin aire’ with the sound of the harmonica that Fher has taken out of his pocket, ‘Mariposa traicionera’ or ‘Oye mi amor’ which continued with a repertoire that has not given their fans a break, who, song after song, have sung from beginning to end and who, on occasions, set the mood for their choruses with the flashlights of their mobile phones turned on.

The singer of Maná did not forget his native land and greeted Mexicans, Venezuelans, Peruvians and Colombians who, spread out among the audience, thanked him for his words by displaying the flags of their countries while the audience danced to “El rey” and “Se me olvidó otra vez”, followed by José Alfredo’s song, “Te solté la rienda”. And the surprise of the night came with “Te lloré como un río” for which the Mexican Christian Nodal accompanied Fher on stage.

‘El reloj cucú’, ‘Si no te habías ido’ and ‘No ha parado de llover’ have been played as a preview of another of their great songs, ‘Eres mi religión’. All of this from a set in the middle of the dance floor from which the band tries to get closer to an audience that has already totally surrendered to their music.

And so the final stretch of the show has arrived, in which ‘En el embarcadero de San Blas’ and ‘Clavado en un bar’, performed again on the main stage, have closed a unique night of Maná ‘Rayando el sol’ in Madrid. The legendary group will be back on the Wizink stage this Thursday in the second and last concert in which they will bid farewell to the capital.
