Holidays in Île-de-France: what comedy shows to see in Paris this summer?

Between the unpredictable weather and the anxiety-provoking political situation, this end of the school year has not been a laughing matter for everyone. Want to laugh your head off and think about something else? Here are three places of humor in Paris where you can drink in good jokes during this month of July.

The New Seine, a strange barge

It’s an absolutely charming place. Moored at the foot of Notre-Dame on a pretty, quiet quay, the Nouvelle Seine enjoys a picture-postcard setting… and a high-flying comedy program. Under the leadership of Jessie Varin, this floating theater with some 120 seats has seen the cream of the new generation of stand-up, from Blanche Gardin to Roman Frayssinet and, more recently, Tahnee and Mahaut Drama.

And this July, from Thursday to Saturday evening, a lovely line-up awaits you between the deliciously absurd humor of Adel Fugazi (recently seen in the Prime Video show “Comedy Class”), the testing of the new show by the always piquant Olivia Moore or the hilarious striptease of the pretty creatures of the Cabaret burlesque. The cherry on the cake: the Nouvelle Seine also offers a very good quality restaurant whose kitchens are entrusted to chefs who change with each season.

Surprise, surprise at Madame Sarfati

Between Kev Adams’ Fridge (2nd), Baptiste Lecaplain’s The Joke (4th) or even the Scène Barbès (18th), Paris has no shortage of quality comedy clubs. In these places, which remain open in July and even August, the principle is the same every evening: around an MC (understand “master of ceremonies”) parade a handful of stand-up comedians who come to test their new jokes for about ten minutes.

Our advice to be sure to come across a quality poster: buy a ticket at Madame Sarfati, the comedy club in Fary installed in an astonishing decor – you’d think you were in the belly of the whale! – designed by the street artist JR. Only recognized comedians perform here, the cream of the crop of stand-up at the moment.

Mythical Semicolon

In the heart of the Marais, it is a red house that has seen a host of comedy legends pass through, from Florence Foresti to Jean-Marie Bigard, including Alex Lutz, Élie Kakou, Virginie Lemoine… Le Point Virgule is a room the size of a shoebox but which reveals the big names in tomorrow’s comedy. This summer, there is no letup in this institution led by Antoinette Colin.

Among the young comedians on the bill this summer, we recommend the very clever black humor of Thomas Sii, the hilarious relaxation of Rémi Boyes or even the jokes flirting with the absurd of Ghislain Blique and Nadim.
