Snaitech and Vecchioni together to celebrate the new face of the Snai San Siro Hippodrome

Great public success for “Lights at San Siro Trot Grand Opening”the great event that marked a new step in the more than century-old history of theSnai San Siro Hippodrome: a special occasion to present and officially inaugurate the new trotting trackil restoration of the secondary grandstand renamed today Trotting Grandstand and the GAMI, the Multimedia Archive Gallery of the Hippodrome. Snaitech announced this in a note.

The evening of July 11th was above all the celebration of a journey that has lasted almost 10 years and that Snaitech has undertaken to transform a facility dedicated to a single sporting discipline, gallop, into a multifunctional arena capable, on the one hand, of hosting all equestrian sporting disciplines such as trotting and obstacle races and, on the other, of offering a rich entertainment programme designed to involve an increasingly wider and more heterogeneous public.

The celebrations were opened by the voice of Roberto Vecchioni who – from 8.00 pm – entertained the public with an exciting performance inside the area of the Cavallo di Leonardo, giving everyone a wonderful version of the famous song “Luci a San Siro”, which gave its title to the evening and to the second trotting race.

“When we started the process of enhancement of the Snai San Siro Hippodrome to transform it from a place exclusively dedicated to horse racing into amultipurpose arena open to alla key word has always guided us: contamination. We have chosen to integrate the sporting activity with a series of cultural, artistic and entertainment initiatives that could involve a wider audience and make our Hippodrome a point of reference and aggregation for the Milanese and beyond” declared Fabio Schiavolin, CEO of Snaitech “Tonight we are witnessing the culmination of this journey: seeing different sports disciplines, such as trotting, galloping and horse riding, in the same place, one exhibition space as the GAMIall accompanied by an exceptional soundtrack is truly a source of pride and fills us with joy”.

The lights at San Siro finally came on on new Trotting Track: spectators were able to witness the debut of the new track which proved to be the absolute protagonist with five important tests for the first day of racing of the 2024 season. Thanks to the innovative and high-level materials used for its construction and the new lighting system that allows it to be used even at night, the Trotting Track further enhances the sporting function of the facility, thus transforming it into a truly modern stadium for equestrian sports.

Spectators were able to enjoy the horse show from a privileged observation point, the new Trotting Grandstand. The restoration and conservative redevelopment project – strongly supported by Snaitech – has allowed what was once the secondary grandstand to be restored to its former splendor: with the structural consolidation and seismic improvement work, it can now count on a capacity of approximately 2000 seats, extending over two levels of overlapping steps that overlook the tracks. On the back, however, its spaces overlook Leonardo’s majestic horse, hosting in the shadow of the colonnade on the ground floor the Gami, the new Multimedia Archive Gallery of the Hippodrome that retraces the history of San Siro and Italian horse racing.

Suitable for all age groups, the new interactive installation represents the perfect combination of physical and digital and is developed in four thematic modules: the architect, books and magazines, Leonardo’s Horse and images and paintings. Open all year round and with free access, the GAMI confirms the vocation of the Snai San Siro Hippodrome as a place where sport is contaminated with culture and entertainment to aim for a hospitality that is as engaging as possible for citizens.
