‘Something Rotten in Bologna’, the Massacre and the ‘Candido’ Case in Giraudo’s Essay

The book, published by Passaggio al bosco, tells the story of the weekly’s journalistic battle, which cost its deputy director the detention, perhaps the only Italian journalist, for not having revealed his sources in relation to an article by Giorgio Pisanò

An entire book that revolves around a prison story of just 15 days, the story of the journalistic battle supported by the weekly “Candido”, which cost the detention of its deputy director, Guido Giraudo, who ended up in prison, perhaps the only Italian journalist, for not having revealed the sources of information, in relation to an article by Giorgio Pisanò from June 1981 on the Bologna massacre, which “hypothesized what would be ‘certified’ by an expert report forty years later”.

The publishing house Passaggio al bosco brings to the bookstores “C’è del marcio a Bologna. 12 mesi per far sparire la verità sulla strage”, by Giraudo himself, an essay that recounts the year between August 1980 (the bomb at the Bologna station was on August 2, 1980) and July 1981, the 12 months in which, the author writes, “it was decided that no one would ever know the truth about the massacre at the station”. In the volume, in addition to the documents from ‘Candido’, there are also original drawings by Almerigo Grilz, a great war correspondent who had (also) a talent for drawing.
