Nostalgic, Johnny Depp? The 61-year-old actor, also known for being a painter in his spare time, shared a new collection of paintings created around the world of tarot this Thursday, July 18, and one of them particularly caught the eye.
Titled “The Empress,” the work depicts a blonde woman with green eyes and a crown, inspired by his ex-wife Vanessa Paradis, with whom the Jack Sparrow actor shared 14 years of his life, from 1998 to 2012.
In a video for ABS-CBN News, the actor, singer and painter indicated that his four new paintings, “The Lovers,” “The Emperor,” “The Empress” and “Strength,” were indeed inspired by several stages of his life. “Each of these cards, each of these paintings, represents my idea of my tarot deck,” he told the channel.
“She continues to shine”
“Of course, it’s the image of Vanessa, the mother of the children. We’ve been very, very close for almost a few decades. I know her, I know who she is inside. She’s kind of everything I could never be,” says Johnny Depp. “It’s like a crown that’s weathered storms. It shows a certain courage and a strength of commitment. And no matter what’s going on in the world behind her, she continues to shine,” he describes, looking at his work.
Since their breakup, Johnny Depp has continued to speak highly of Vanessa Paradis. Similarly, in 2022, the French singer supported him during his highly publicized legal battle with Amber Heard.
