This morning, in the Council Chamber of the historic Palazzo de Fusco, seat of the Municipality of Pompeii, the inauguration ceremony took place Delivery of the keys to the city to the Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano. “For the highest civil and cultural merits achieved in the leadership of the Ministry of Culture for having indicated Pompeii as a model of intervention on cultural heritage, identifying it as a story of rebirth and redemption – is written in the motivations of the resolution of the Municipal Council of Pompeii for the awarding of the recognition to the minister – for having brought the archaeological area of Pompeii to national and international attention; for having ensured in the government action as Minister of Culture of our country constant attention and generous dedication to Pompeii UNESCO site, promoting its protection and enhancement at the highest levels; for having strongly wanted to include in the Budget Law significant resources to expand the excavations in the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, with undoubted positive effects on the city and the entire Vesuvian area”.

The city has its roots in a thousand-year history that is the pride and joy of the Nation. The Ministry of Culture has ensured for years and will continue to do so, with great determination, the maximum financial and operational commitment to safeguard and enhance as best as possible that unique world represented by the Archaeological Park of Pompeii.
