Herrnhut is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

At its meeting currently taking place in Delhi, the responsible UNESCO committee declared the Moravian Brethren settlements a World Heritage site. These include the founding site of the Protestant Free Church in Herrnhut, Saxony, and the settlements founded later in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and in Gracehill, Northern Ireland. Another Moravian settlement, Christiansfeld in Denmark, was given World Heritage status in 2015. Herrnhut is the 53rd World Heritage site in Germany. The President of the German UNESCO Commission, Maria Böhmer, said the settlements represent cultural and intellectual exchange across national borders and continents. “They are united in diversity and are therefore a symbol of the World Heritage idea.”
