Paris 2024 Olympics: the closing ceremony reveals its first secrets

Everything is moving extremely quickly. While the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games took place during the evening of Friday, July 26, the artistic direction of Paris-2024 is now turning its attention to the closing ceremony of the Games, scheduled for August 11.

A dystopian spectacle

L’Équipe specifies that the Cojo has started rehearsals for about a week away from Paris, an hour’s drive from the capital. In total, while little information has leaked about the content of this last event of the Olympics, it is certain that the show will take place at the Stade de France in the evening. “I wanted to celebrate this fragile monument that is the Games. They actually disappeared in Antiquity before being re-established. We imagined a show in which the Games had disappeared again…”, explained director Thomas Jolly to L’Équipe. A dystopian show, therefore, where spectators will be immersed in a world where several years have passed since the last Olympics.

Unlike the closing ceremony, where more than three hours of spectacle were spread out in different locations, the closing ceremony will be indoors and will feature performances by circus artists, acrobats and even Paris firefighters who are members of the gymnastics section, the media adds. Much shorter than the one that opened the Games, the closing show will last around 40 minutes. The ceremony will be called “Records”. The entire ceremony is scheduled from 9 p.m. to 11:15 p.m.

On the official Olympic ticket office, category E seats are available from 45 euros. To be present in category A, you must pay at least 1,600 euros.
