Taylor Swift continues her tour at Wmbley Stadium in London

After the concert cancellations in Austria due to the threat of terrorism, US musician Taylor Swift is to continue her tour in London. Five concerts are planned at Wembley Stadium. The 34-year-old will be back on stage for the first time this evening after having played several concerts there in June.

Last week, three of the pop star’s performances in Vienna were cancelled because Islamists were allegedly planning a terrorist attack. The 19-year-old main suspect recently denied the allegations. Two other young men are also in custody.

London Mayor highlights police experience

Before the upcoming concerts in the British capital, London Mayor Sadiq Khan stressed that the police had experience in accompanying such large events. They were working closely with investigators. “We look forward to welcoming Taylor Swift back,” Khan told the television station Sky News.

Police said there was no evidence that the matters being investigated by Austrian authorities would impact on upcoming events in London. Swift is scheduled to play a total of five concerts in the next few days.

For today’s concert, admission to the stadium will begin in the afternoon. The show with the supporting program should begin at around 6 p.m. (CEST). According to the ticket portal, the actual concert is scheduled to begin at 8:15 p.m. (CEST).

A week ago, the Austrian police uncovered plans for a suspected Islamist attack shortly before a concert in Vienna. Three concerts were subsequently cancelled. Swift has not yet commented on the threat situation.

In the meantime, five people have been identified who, from the perspective of the Austrian Office for the Protection of the Constitution, belonged to the circle of observed threats. These people were supposed to be working in the facility and catering areas at the concerts, said Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner.

“Swifties” celebrate musician despite concert cancellation

After the concert in Vienna was cancelled, many fans gathered on the street to celebrate together. They sang songs by the US star, exchanged bracelets and took selfies. Swift was also celebrated in London before her return to the city.

A few weeks ago, the Royal Music Corps also paid tribute to her – it played a version of Swift’s hit “Shake It Off” during the changing of the guard in front of Buckingham Palace – the official X-account of the British royal family posted a video.

Swift (“I Can Do It With A Broken Heart”, “Lavender Haze”) also played several concerts in Germany on her “Eras Tour”. Her last concert in London for the time being is scheduled to take place on Tuesday. After the performances in the British capital, Swift will then continue the tour in Canada in November.
