Death of Matthew Perry: several people arrested in the United States

His death shocked the world. Several people were arrested on Thursday, August 15, nearly ten months after Matthew Perry’s death, ABC News reported, citing police sources. The “Friends” actor was found dead in his Los Angeles swimming pool on October 28, 2023, from taking ketamine, according to autopsy results.

According to the American media, the arrests took place early in the morning. It is not known what exactly the people arrested are accused of. A press conference is to be held later in the day by the Los Angeles district attorney and the American drug authorities. NBC News reports an arrest in southern California. TMZ indicates that a doctor is among those arrested.

Matthew Perry, who played Chandler Bing in “Friends,” had received ketamine infusions to treat his depression and anxiety, according to the autopsy report. This last “intake,” legal and supervised as part of his treatment, dated a week and a half before his death. But according to the medical examiner, it was therefore another unregulated ketamine intake that caused the actor’s death, he having lost consciousness before falling into the water.

The autopsy report concluded that the cause of the actor’s death was accidental.

Last May, however, the Los Angeles police indicated that they were investigating Matthew Perry’s death. With one overriding question: how did he get the drug? In his memoir, the “Friends” actor said he had undergone 65 withdrawal sessions, spending more than $9 million. He had also undergone several surgeries related to his drug addiction problems, including a seven-hour colon operation in 2018, going so far as to say one day: “I should be dead.”
