Rosalía returns with ‘New Woman’, her collaboration with Lisa, a member of the K-pop group Blackpink

Rosalía has returned after a year since her last work with ‘New Woman’, a song in which she collaborates with one of the members of the South Korean K-pop group Blackpink, Lisa.

In ‘New Woman’, the artists develop a pop theme somewhere between Spanish and English, in which they also approach synthesizer sounds reminiscent of ‘hyper-pop’, trap rapping or even more flamenco vocabulary.

This release coincides with the announcement that the Catalan herself leaked a week ago in a live broadcast on her Instagram account, after announcing on her social networks that “little things” were coming.

In a rapped tone, the artist is heard reciting “bitch, I’m Rosalía, I only know how to serve.” “For everything that I am, I can ‘front’, not for what I have. They always give it to me, my energy is immaculate. Low profile and you’re out. I live to sing, I don’t sing to live. Not one era will be ‘flop’ (failure, in English) in my future. Bitch, I’m Rosalía, I only know how to serve (anglicism of ‘to serve’). The starry night will be like this, until dawn, so be it,” she sang.

And continues: “Purple into gold. Pain has come and gone again. Walked through that fire I rediscover – purple into gold, pain has come and gone. Walked through that fire I rediscover – I hit it hard, it comes out right. I speed up my aura. I’m focused, no pressure. I’m a new woman”.

In the music video, which also premiered this Friday, August 16, both Lisa and Rosalía –with a lot of complicity between them– change their appearance numerous times, adapting to the rhythm of the song and showing that “new woman” that they repeat they are in the chorus.

NEW ERA AFTER ‘MOTOMAMI’

Thus, Rosalía begins her new musical era just over a year after the release of ‘Tuya’, the latest single after her third album, ‘Motomami’.

Despite her absence, Rosalía has continued to reap successes and last June she became the first Spanish artist to have a solo song reach 1 billion plays on the streaming audio platform Spotify, with her song ‘Despechá’.

“I just found out that ‘Despechá’ already has 1 billion plays and you’re all to blame. Thank you for having listened to it, danced to it and enjoyed it so many times! I hope life allows me to share many more songs. For now I’m still working on the new album and I can only say that the wait will be worth it,” celebrated the singer of ‘Malamente’.

The song was released during her ‘Motomami World Tour’ in 2022 and she already assured that “there are many ways to be upset” and that it was a song made from “madness” and “without regret.”
