After Barack Obama in 2008, street artist Obey paints a portrait of Kamala Harris

Shepard Fairey has unveiled a political visual in honor of the Democratic candidate who recently took over from Joe Biden in the race for the White House.

Let’s hope it brings him luck! A few days ago, Obey unveiled the “Forward” poster of Kamala Harris, Joe Biden’s vice president, now the Democratic Party candidate in the US presidential election on November 5. Shepard Fairey aka Obey is once again campaigning for the Democrats alongside other artists – Robert de Niro, Tom Hanks, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé who lent her music Freedom for Kamala Harris’ rallies.

In 2008, the American street artist created a poster with Barack Obama’s face. The word “Barack Obama” was written on it «Hope» (“Hope”) for the campaign of the man who would become the first black president of the United States. It had become iconic and was displayed, like an advertisement, on the streets of the downtown business district of Chicago where Obama was giving his inaugural address. Obey’s international career had taken off.

This year, for this new presidential election on the other side of the Atlantic, the street artist reiterated his commitment to the Democratic Party. Because according to him, this mandate could allow a giant step forward for his country: “We can advance our desire for a healthy planet, for corporate responsibility, for equality and the abandonment of racism, sexism, xenophobia and homophobia, for equitable access to opportunity, for full access to the health care we want or need, for fair and equitable immigration policies.”

He ends his text by calling for a vote on November 5: “I think Vice President Kamala Harris and her vice presidential pick, Tim Walz, are our best chance to move forward.”
