Death of Alain Delon: the actor’s children “extremely touched” by the tributes paid to their father

They had not spoken since the death was announced on Sunday. Alain Delon’s children – Anthony, Anouchka and Alain-Fabien – say they are “extremely touched” by the tributes paid to their father. “We are extremely touched and moved by the fervour and affection shown by his public in France and around the world,” they said in a joint message to the press. Alain Delon will be buried in a small group on Saturday at the Douchy estate, where he lived.

The death of the French cinema icon on Sunday has given rise to a shower of tributes beyond borders, from Italy to Japan.

Alain Delon’s funeral will be held behind closed doors on Saturday in the private chapel of his property in Douchy (Loiret) at 4 p.m. Around fifty guests are invited to this ceremony led by former bishop Jean-Michel Di Falco. He had known the actor, a believer, “for a very long time.”

Alain Delon had long wanted to be buried at home, near his dogs. The decree authorizing the actor’s burial at his home was signed Tuesday afternoon by the prefect of Loiret, a source familiar with the process said. It was sent to his family, the mayor, the Regional Health Agency and the funeral directors.

Alain Delon had also requested that his burial take place only in the presence of a few dozen relatives, without a national tribute like that reserved in 2021 for his friend and rival, Jean-Paul Belmondo, another sacred monster of the 7th art.

Adored far beyond France, Alain Delon, one of the legends of cinema history, died Sunday surrounded by his three children. Since then, anonymous people have come to sign the condolence books made available to the public to pay their respects, in front of the gate of the property. Some have laid flowers.
