Sport and the army. An obvious and intrinsic link, as the physical condition of the soldier seems to be the basis of the military condition. A few days after the Paris Olympic Games, and before the launch of the Paralympic Games, the Historical Service of Defense (SHD) has reopened since Monday the doors of its exhibition “An army of champions, sport under the flags”, in the grounds of the Château de Vincennes (Val-de-Marne).
Until October 31, the curious can look at the evolution of sport within the French army, from the birth of sports practices, notably with the Joinville school, to the interactions between the army and high-level champions that we saw at the Paris Olympics.
