Reunion after 15 years: Oasis announce tour for 2025

The British band Oasis has announced the comeback that many fans have been waiting for. The brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher want to be on stage together again next year, as they announced on social media. Concerts are planned in several British cities, including London and Manchester. On Instagram, Oasis wrote: “This is it, this is happening.”

In recent days, British media have speculated more than ever about a comeback – fueled by several statements made by the brothers on social media and at concerts.

Oasis became known on the one hand for their finest guitar pop, and on the other hand for the personalities of the two Gallaghers as frontmen with their self-confident, sometimes arrogant sayings, tousled hair and sunglasses. Noel was the gifted songwriter, Liam the distinctive voice.

The Gallagher brothers’ announcement comes at the right time: This Friday marks 30 years since Oasis released “Definitely Maybe”, an album that significantly shaped an entire genre – Britpop. In the mid-1990s, the guys from Manchester were the hottest music export from the homeland of the Beatles and Rolling Stones. They shaped the decade with songs like “Wonderwall”, “Don’t Look Back in Anger” and “Supersonic”.

:Oasis has given me back my joy of life

Our author Marlene Knobloch always wanted to think the 90s band Oasis was stupid. Now she’s walking through Munich, where everything is under control, with the Gallaghers on her ears – and she has only one thought: I was born too late.

Oasis fought the “Battle of Britpop” with the band Blur (“Modern Life Is Rubbish”) – which band invented the style is still a controversial issue today. Blur, led by singer and guitarist Damon Albarn, is still playing. Oasis, on the other hand, was destroyed by the dispute between the extroverted Gallaghers – 15 years ago this Wednesday, Noel left the band.

Music experts emphasize that although Noel is the songwriter of many hits, it is Liam’s voice that attracts the masses. Noel is certainly successful with his band “High Flying Birds.” But his younger brother fills the larger venues. Most recently, Liam released an album together with John Squire, former guitarist of the “Stone Roses.” He confidently praised himself: The record is the best album since “Revolver” by the Beatles.
