SGAE Foundation, present at the San Sebastian Festival through a concert and a non-competitive section “made in Spain”

The SGAE Foundation will be present at the 72nd edition of the San Sebastian Festival through four initiatives parallel to the official programming of the San Sebastian event, among which is the tenth edition of ‘Concert & Screening’ the non-competitive section of Spanish audiovisual ‘Made in Spain’ and the SGAE Dunia Ayaso awards which recognize the best film with a gender perspective.

Specifically, during the concert that will take place Orchestra of the Basque Country The orchestra will perform a selection of the best musical compositions from Spanish cinema in recent years, which will take place on Saturday 21st September, starting at 6pm.

On the other hand, The SGAE Foundation co-organizes and sponsors the non-competitive section ‘Made In Spain’ with a selection of 21 titlesThe event will open with the world premiere of the documentary ‘Tiempo de silencio’ by Joan López Lloret, a film about the figure of the psychiatrist and writer Luis Martín-Santos.

For its part, the closing session will be in charge of another presentation, that of ‘Break a Leg’by Catalan director Alba Sotorra, a non-fiction film about the 1975 actors’ strike told by its own protagonists.

In addition, other titles that have already been screened at other Spanish festivals will be shown, such as ‘Volveréis’ by Jonás Trueba, ‘Mamífera’ by Liliana Torres, ‘As Neves’ by Sonia Méndez, ‘Casa en Flames’ by Dani de la Orden, ‘Dragonkeeper’ by Salvador Simó and Li Jianping, ‘The Good Man’ by David Trueba, ‘Flores del cemento’ by Luismi Pantiga, ‘Justicia Artificial’ by Simón Casal, ‘La abadesa’ by Antonio Chavarrías, ‘La casa’ by Álex Montoya or ‘Los pequeñas amores’ by Celia Rico Clavellino.

Finally, The entity will announce the SGAE Dunia Ayaso Award on Friday, September 27an award with a prize of 5,000 euros that recognises the director of the recently produced feature film that best demonstrates the gender perspective, along with its cinematic value, through female characters with a leading role in the story or that portrays the situation of women in society.
