The rapper Kendrick Lamar will perform during the intermission of the Super Bowl the final of the American football league (NFL, (US) on February 9, 2025 at The Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, the NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced.
“The Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show is a celebration of the music we love and the incredible artists who make it, all on the world’s biggest stage.“Apple is thrilled to bring this show, starring the incomparable Kendrick Lamar, to fans around the world,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music, Apple TV+, Sports and Beats.
The NFL has said the decision to feature Lamar was due to his impact on music and culture.Time and time again, Kendrick has proven his unique ability to create moments that resonate, redefine, and ultimately shake the foundations of hip-hop.” said Seth Dudowsky, head of music for the football company.
The singer, for his part, has praised rap music, placing it as “the most impactful genre to date.”I will be there to remind the world why“, Lamar added.
The list of artists who have performed on that stage includes figures such as The Rolling Stones, Prince, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, U2, Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Beyoncé.
The latest edition of the Super Bowl, which featured the artist Usher, became the most-watched halftime performance in history and earned three 2024 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Variety Special, as highlighted by the NFL, Roc Nation and Apple Music.
