Fresh food
Fresh food can be refrigerated for 3-5 days. Therefore, you should buy pork, beef, chicken, prepare and store in the freezer. When needed, you can defrost and process as usual.
Vegetables and fruits should also be selected that can be kept for a long time. You should buy 3-5 types of green vegetables such as mustard greens, spinach, Malabar spinach, squash, and pumpkin, and keep them in a dry place. On cool rainy days, green vegetables can be kept outside for two days and in the refrigerator for 4-5 days. Vegetables such as squash, pumpkin, potatoes, and carrots can be kept outside for 4-5 days.
Another indispensable food is eggs. Properly stored, eggs can stay fresh for 15-20 days.
Dry food
Stock up on rice, salt, fish sauce, soy sauce, cooking oil… Some dry foods you should have are dried fish, instant noodles, canned meat, canned fish, sausages, dried pork floss, bread, cakes, condensed milk.
In case of prolonged rain, you should prepare more bread, cakes and condensed milk, in case the worst case scenario of not being able to cook, you will still have instant food.
For canned foods, pay attention to check the expiration date and arrange a reasonable diet for your family.
Drinking water
Families should have measures to store clean water in tanks, barrels, buckets, etc. in case of water cuts. In addition, prepare plenty of drinking water, bottled fruit juice, and canned milk. All should be stored in a dry place so that they can be easily used when needed. They should not be placed in places that are prone to flooding, even in the house.
Each person needs at least 3 liters of water per day, or store 45 liters of water for a family of 4 for one day. Store enough drinking water for at least three days in case of emergency, even if you cannot boil drinking water.
