Vietnam: 21 students suspected of food poisoning after Mid-Autumn Festival party

The Mid-Autumn Festival party was organized by the Parents’ Association of class 7/1, Duc Thang Secondary School, Thong Nhat Ward, Pleiku City, on the morning of September 16 with milk tea. At around 9:30 a.m., 21 children had stomachaches, nausea, and dizziness and were taken to the ward health station and Hoang Anh Gia Lai Hospital for emergency treatment. Doctors suspected food poisoning.

The school board coordinated with the ward health station to verify and record the total number of students in class 7/1 this morning as 46, one student was absent. During the party, 34 students drank milk tea, 21 of whom showed abnormal symptoms, the remaining students did not show any symptoms.

By the afternoon of the same day, the student was discharged from the hospital to go home for monitoring, while one student was still being treated at Hoang Anh Gia Lai Hospital due to abdominal pain and mild fever.

City Health Center took food samples for testing to find the cause.
