Good oral hygiene, avoiding garlic and onions, drinking enough water, and not smoking are everyday things that can reduce bad breath.

Common causes of bad breath include dental problems such as cavities, gum disease, tonsils, food stuck between teeth, braces and dentures. Some medical conditions can also cause bad breath such as diabetes, respiratory infections and chronic bronchitis, acid reflux.

Here are six things you can do regularly to help reduce bad breath.

Oral hygiene Good is the basic way to help reduce bad breath. Everyone should brush their teeth and floss after every meal to remove bacteria in the mouth and plaque on teeth and gums. Using mouthwash regularly also helps prevent tooth decay and limit plaque. Mouthwash with antiseptic or antibacterial properties also helps kill bacteria, making breath fresher.

Avoid foods that cause bad breath Because food is the direct cause of odor. Digested food is absorbed into the blood, then expelled by the lungs when breathing. Snack on carrots, celery or a few slices of apple because they are high in water, helping to clean debris in between teeth and increase moisture in the mouth.

Sipping small sips of water, often during the day, helps speed up the process of cleaning the mouth. Drinking unsweetened, low-fat milk also helps eliminate bad breath.

Avoid sugary drinks such as soda, energy drinks, bottled fruit juice, and milk coffee. Sugar creates conditions for harmful bacteria to grow, attack the teeth and mouth, and cause unpleasant odors. Regular consumption of sugary foods and drinks can easily erode tooth enamel, leading to tooth decay and odor. Instead of drinking soft drinks, you can drink green tea, mint tea, or herbal tea. These types of tea have good antibacterial properties, helping to reduce harmful bacteria.

No smoking, no drinking both protects your health and helps your breath smell better. Cigarette smoke and alcohol dry out your mouth, creating a lingering unpleasant odor.

Chew gum Sugar-free chewing gum 20 minutes after a meal increases saliva production. Gum containing 100% xylitol helps reduce tooth decay, cools and freshens breath.
